All librarians should be called optimists because they are working in an unfunctional system that is underfunded. Where as the library IT dept. shall be known as ogres.
Witness the following conversation:
Could you get the IT Dept to call me after they fix the New England Ancestry database?
Um... they don't talk to anybody they haven't been trained to talk to the public.
Oh so they are ogres.
What do you mean?
They fix stuff but can't talk to people.
So how do I get the IT Dept. to call me after they fix the database?
You email them.
Do they respond to email?
Of course!
